Program Description: EXCEL Mentoring Program is to aid new students in their adjustment to the University of Houston during their first year on campus. It is open to freshmen and new transfer students. Each student is matched with a faculty, staff or upperclassman. There are group study sessions for core classes and workshops on study skills and time management and other areas that promote academic success. Social events are planned around campus cultural events and athletic events. The program has been in existence for 20 years.
